TEAMING WITH RHYTHM

Progressive and successful companies actively seek unique and engaging ways to invest in their people. “Teaming with Rhythm” is a dynamic team building activity that utilizes African drumming and rhythm to promote cooperation and rapport among team members. The following is a brief description of what a teambuilding session can offer – further variations present themselves if your group wishes to work in specific ways.
Each person will have access to an African drum and a whole array of percussion instruments from around the world. Sessions are beginner friendly, interactive, fun and physical, and if needed can focus on a particular theme. After learning the basic drum sounds, we begin to create a strong rhythmical foundation upon which we can build. Within this “rhythm orchestra”, which is used as a metaphor for how a company orchestrates its business, there are many opportunities to explore various aspects of communication, including team building, dynamic listening, collaboration, and leadership. The intention of the session is to enhance the sense of community and connectedness between individuals and groups within the organization.
Feedback – June 16/’11, Lyle Povah’s “Energizing Your Leadership” team building session, UBC Sauder School of Business, “Meeting the Leadership Challenge”
- Can’t “beat” him!
- I’m not a musician but Lyle made the exercise fun & I therefore learned/benefited from it
Patient! Enthusiastic! Teaches clearly step by step, encouraging. The drum session removed my fatigue and stress around preparing for Friday presentations. Was re-energized so the timing of that session was excellent
- Loved the drums + all the fun and seeing the smiling faces around the room as you led us in rhythm and song
- Fantastic – totally engaging
- Would have liked a bit more time with Lyle; vibrant and infectious

TESTIMONIALS:
“Lyle is one of the most gifted facilitators, entertainers, leaders that
I’ve come across in all the years that I’ve been running executive
experiences for managers. He exemplifies everything that I teach people
about in terms of the quality of leadership that allows people to do their
best work. He leads by example and creates space for people to explore. He
brings a particular skill and even one might say a magic to getting people
over, around and beyond their blocks. Lyle would be a great addition to any
number of different company functions, from training programs, to social
functions, to special events.”Peter J. Frost, Ph.D.
Professor and Academic Advisor
Sauder School of Business

“Over the past several years, I have had the pleasure of being involved in
several experiential learning events facilitated by Lyle Povah. These
included: a fireside celebration for a couple of dozen educators, a team
building session with 130 senior bank executives and a fundraising dinner
involving several hundred participants from all walks of life. Regardless of
the nature and size of the event, Lyle has never failed to deliver a truly
unique, extremely memorable, and immensely powerful experience.”Jim Francis
